ZHOU Qi, Ph.D., is a professor in life sciences, a Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), President of CAS’s Beijing Branch, the Director of Institute for Stem Cell and Regeneration, CAS and the Director of Institute of Zoology, CAS, and is CAS Member, Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS), and the Rotating President of the International Stem Cell Forum (2014- ).
Professor ZHOU was elected as CAS Member in 2015 and TWAS Fellow in 2018. He used to be the director of State Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Reproductive Biology, and Vice President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Prof. ZHOU’s research interests cover stem cell, reproductive, developmental biology and tissue engineering, and he is also dedicated to promoting the application of stem cells to clinical use. He has been serving as the chief scientist of several national and CAS research projects in areas of reproductive and developmental biology, stem cells and related tissue engineering.
Prof. ZHOU has been awarded many prizes and honours, including TWAS Prize for Biology, the Second Class Award of National Natural Science Award of China, Award for Outstanding Youth in Basic Science of Zhou Guang Zhao Foundation, Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, and 3rd genOway Prize for Transgenic Technologies.
